Terms and Conditions for European Shiatsu School Brighton

What you are signing up for:
- You are signing up to a two year, part time, mixed media (hands-on and online) level 4 qualification.
- The course costs £6,000. If you choose to pay upfront, you will be given a £500 discount (£5,500).
- You must have graduated from the Professional Certificate in Acupressure to be eligible for this course or hold an equivalent qualification in Bodywork and Anatomy. Direct access from another qualification is assessed through an interview process and is at the directors discretion.
- You will be given immediate access to all online material, including online Physiology and Pathology course and be given a two-year subscription.
- Fees include all in person teaching days, access to online material, twice monthly zoom practice classes, the marking of all coursework, written and practical exams and registration with Laser learning Level 4 qualification
- To complete the Diploma, Student must receive 4 Shiatsu treatments per year from a Shiatsu Society registered practitioner. Students can choose which practitioners they wish to see. They do not have to be teachers from ESS Brighton. The cost of this is paid individually by each student
Course Registration fee = £600
- If you completed your Professional Certificate in Acupressure more than two years ago or entered the course via an equivalent qualification you will need to pay an additional £180 fee to be registered with Laser learning
Cancellation Policy – before the course starts
- From the date you sign up you have a two-week cooling off period in which to change your mind. Please be clear that this is the course you want before booking! We are always happy to answer questions in the office 9am – 4pm Monday-Friday Friday
- During this two-week period, if you decide you cancel, you will receive a refund minus the course registration fees (£600).
- After two weeks you are liable for the full cost of the online modules £3000 (this includes a two-year subscription).
- If you are on a payment plan you agree to your payments continuing until the agreed costs have been paid
Cancellation Policy – after the course starts:
- The start date of your course is the date of your first in person class. After this date we are unable to give refunds for the course
- In the event of cancellation once the course starts, you agree to pay the full cost of the course (£6000/£5500).
- If you are on a payment plan you agree to your payments continuing until the agreed costs have been paid
- In the event of extenuating circumstances (deaths, serious illness), individual circumstances will be considered, and students unable to complete their current Shiatsu Diploma can be moved to the next Shiatsu Diploma or given credit towards other ESS brighton courses. This will be at the Directors discretion and evidence of circumstances (i.e.: medical notes) may be asked for. Please note no refunds can be given.
Attendance and Assignments
- In the event of you missing hands-on days it is your responsibility to catch up on material from your peers. Hands-on days are unable to be rescheduled.

Missing Practical Assessments
- Missed practical assessment are liable for a fee of £150, unless genuine extenuating circumstances can be proven.
Written work/Assignments:
- You must meet the deadline for all assignments (monthly online tests, course work, treatment records, case studies, final research project etc.).
- You must upload all assignments to your online portal.
- Extenuating circumstances, include: death in the immediate family; serious personal injury or medical condition occurring for the first time; serious injury or illness of a child, partner or close relative; serious or worsening or acute episode of a pre-existing and ongoing medical condition, will be considered on a case-by-case basis and evidence (e.g. medical note) may be required.
Covid / Illness:
- If you test positive for covid or you have another genuine illness (e.g. sickness, diarrhoea) please don’t come to class, call the teacher running that day (phone numbers are in your syllabus) so we don’t worry about you
To receive your certificate
- You must attend 90% of your hands-on sessions
- You must complete all online courses and course work
- Pass all learning outcomes (assignments, online tests, practical assessments, treatment records, case studies, and final research project).
- All fees must be paid
- Certificates are issued by Laser Learning, please make sure you use the name you want on your certificate when registering for the course. Fee for reissuing certificates are set by Laser Learning and are outside of our control.
If due to circumstances beyond ESS Brighton control the course has to be withdrawn, the company is not to be held responsible or accountable. A new date or course credit will be offered, no refunds will be issued.

- You are signing up to a yearlong, part time, mixed media (hands-on and online) qualification. This includes an online anatomy course
- The course costs £2,800 (this includes the Foundation course). If you choose to pay upfront, you will be given a £300 discount (£2,500).
- You will be given immediate access to all online material.
- Fees include all in person teaching days, access to online material, 8 practice classes and the marking of all coursework, written and practical exams
- To complete the Certificate, Student must receive 4 Shiatsu treatments from a Shiatsu Society registered practitioner. Students can choose which practitioners they wish to see. They do not have to be teachers from ESS Brighton. The cost of this is paid individually by each student.

- After two weeks you are liable for the full cost of the course £2,800 (this includes a two-year subscription to the online material).
- If you are on a payment plan you agree to your payments continuing until the agreed costs have been paid

Moving course:
- There will be a charge of £250 to move to a different Professional Acupressure Certificate course once registered

Final exams and all course work marking are included in the price of the Professional Certificate of Acupressure
- Resit Theory Exam: 1st resit £50 (further resits will be at the discretion of ESS Brighton)
- Resitting Practical Exam: 1st resit £100 (further resits will be at the discretion of ESS Brighton)
If due to circumstances beyond ESS Shiatsu Brighton control the course has to be withdrawn, the company is not to be held responsible or accountable. A new date or course credit will be offered, no refunds will be issued.
What you are signing up for:
- You are signing up to a hands-on beginners Shiatsu and Chinese medicine theory course
- The course costs £395 – £595 depending on whether you sign up for the 4-day intensive or 3 weekend version of the course If you choose to book early and pay upfront, you will be given a £50 discount.
- After completion of this course, you will be able to give basic, safe, and effective Shiatsu for rest and relaxation to friends and family. You cannot gain insurance to work as a professional massage practitioner. This course is intended as an entry point for our professional massage qualifications – the Professional Certificate in Acupressure and Professional Shiatsu Diploma.
- On successful completion of the course, you will also be eligible to apply for our Professional Certificate in Acupressure (additional 9 months training) and subsequently our Professional Shiatsu Diploma (an additional 2 years training – 3 years in total). The Shiatsu Diploma is fully recognised level 4 national diploma course.
Course Registration fee = £100
- If you completed your Professional Certificate in Acupressure more than two years ago or entered the course via an equivalent qualification you will need to pay an additional £180 fee to be registered with Laser learning
Cancellation Policy
- From the date you sign up you have a two-week cooling off period in which to change your mind. Please be clear that this is the course you want before booking! We are always happy to answer questions in the office 9am – 4pm Monday-Friday
- During this two-week period, if you decide to cancel, you will receive a refund minus the course registration fees (£100)
- After this two-week cooling off period no refunds can be issued and in the event of cancellation you agree to pay the full cost of the course (£395/595)
- If you are on a payment plan you agree to your payments continuing until the agreed costs have been paid
- In the event of extenuating circumstances (deaths, serious illness), individual circumstances will be considered, and students unable to complete their current Foundation course can be moved to the next course. This will be at the Directors discretion and evidence of circumstances (i.e.: medical notes) may be asked for. Please note no refunds can be given
Covid / Illness:
- If you test positive for covid or you have another genuine illness (e.g. sickness, diarrhoea) please don’t come to class, call the teacher running that day (phone numbers are in your syllabus) so we don’t worry about you
- If you miss more than half the course we will offer you a transfer to the next date. No refunds can be given
To receive your certificate
- You must attend all hands-on sessions
- All fees must be paid
Other Fees:
- Reissuing certificates £25
If due to circumstances beyond ESS SHiatsu Brighton control the course has to be withdrawn, the company is not to be held responsible or accountable. A new date or course credit will be offered, no refunds will be issued.

- You are signing up to a yearlong, part-time, mixed media (hands-on and online) professional qualification.
- The course costs £3,600. If you choose to pay upfront, you will be given a £400 discount (£3,200).
- Fees include all in-person teaching days, 10 online teaching sessions and bi-weekly mentoring to our multi-bed student clinic in Brighton during term times. Fees also include the marking of all coursework, written and practical exams
- To complete the Certificate, the Student must receive 4 Acupuncture treatments from a registered practitioner (either BAcC or BAF). Students can choose which practitioners they wish to see. They do not have to be teachers from ESS Brighton. The cost of this is paid individually by each student.
- The qualification will allow you to become a member of the BAF and to gain professional insurance to work as a registered Acupuncturist.

To Receive your Certificate:
- You must attend 90% of all hands-on and online sessions.
- You must complete a minimum of 30 hours Clinical observation and 78hours of Clinical practice.
- You must complete all case studies and course work.
- You must pass your practical and theoretical assessments.
- All fees must be paid.
Other Fees:
- Reissuing certificates £25
Final exams and all course work marking are included in the price of the Professional Acupuncture Diploma
- Resit Theory Exam: 1st resit £50 (further resits will be at the discretion of ESS Directors)
- Resitting Practical Exam: 1st resit £100 (further resits will be at the discretion of ESS Directors)

- You are signing up to either a hands-on, online or mix media (hands on and online) course in Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu Practice.
- These courses are aimed at current students or qualified Shiatsu and Massage Practitioners.
- On successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a certificate of completion.
Course Registrations Fees/deposit:
- You must pay the full fee or the required deposit to secure your place on the course
Cancellation Policy
